The 48th FITCE Congress took place in Prague, from the 3rd to the 5th September 2009. All delegates once again enjoyed the convivial FITCE atmosphere of high quality presentations and discussions as well as excellent opportunities for networking and meeting old and new friends. The overall theme was “ICT Transformation- Global InfoSociety Realisation in 2009”. The Congress was well attended, despite the global economic recession.

Summary of Services and Benefits
Annual Congresses
Each year FITCE organises a Congress, held usually in autumn and hosted by one of the national associations. This popular event, which has been running since 1962, gives an opportunity for members to listen to a broad spectrum of papers and to participate in debate on topical issues.

The Congress, attended by some 500 delegates, provides a useful platform for individual networking between telecommunications professionals across Europe. The Congress enjoys support from government ministeries, academic institutions, national operators and the telecommunications industry.

Technical visits to companies in the telecommunications industry are also organised. Spouses are encouraged to attend, for whom cultural events are organised. Click here for a full list of FITCE Congresses since 1962.

From 2000, the FITCE Comité de Direction has adopted a policy of distributing the printed proceedings of the annual Congress to all FITCE members. Papers are also posted on this website.
Members newsletter
FITCE Forum is a colour newsletter distributed to FITCE members three times a year. It contains information about developments within the national FITCE Associations and short articles of interest to professionals working in the European Telecommunications industry.
Study commissions
At members' request, FITCE forms Study Commissions to address specific novel problems which are of interest to the membership. Usually of one or two year duration, these studies would not duplicate work carried out in other fora but are aimed to complement them. Study Commission work is of high quality and is acknowledged by outside bodies: for example, ETSI.

Recent study commissions have addressed the local loop, network performance and the personal development of telecommunications professionals.
Networking Opportunities
FITCE provides opportunities for networking with European colleagues from across the telecommunicationssector. FITCE members can now do their networking on line, with the FITCE Online Network-a large database containing details of FITCE Members for users to search. Upon changing a Job or moving address, FITCE Members can publicise the move by posting the details in the 'Members on the Move' section. All these facilities are available when you Join FITCE
Membership
Currently, FITCE has about 3,000 members across Europe. Full membership is available, through our designated national associations, to those who have received a university education or have worked at a professional level in the ICT Industry in one of the EU member countries. Members pay an annual subscription through their national association.

Affiliated membership is available to those with a similar education and working at a professional level in the EC member countries and in the telecommunications field who cannot register through a national association.
